Eyes of the Beast: Climate Disaster Survivor Stories - June 18-22
Eyes of the Beast is a documentary theatre production co-created by Sebastien Archibald, Gavan Cheema, and Kelsey Kanatan Wavey, in collaboration with students from Simon Fraser University. Adapted from the award-winning journalism of the Climate Disaster Project (University of Victoria), this piece draws from hundreds of testimonies by people across Canada who have lived through climate change together. Climate disaster is here, now, happening to us. Yet amidst catastrophe, we create community. SFU students have helped bring this work to life as co-creators, performers, and researchers, sharing their voices and perspectives. Each performance includes a facilitated talkback—an invitation to reflect, share, and be heard. A Vancouver political leader will also be present to listen and respond. Tickets are only $10 and $5 for residents of the DTES and the Indigenous community.
