Call your MP: no public money for American LNG!

Right now, the federal government is deciding whether to give billions of our tax dollars to an American-owned LNG project in British Columbia. Urge your MP to speak out against this misuse of public money.

The Ksi Lisims project is 100 per cent owned by Western LNG from Texas. It would be built on a floating platform in South Korea, by Korean workers, with foreign steel.

The project is supported by the Nisga’a treaty government, which would collect rent from the terminal. First Nations have no ownership stake.

The main investors are Blackstone and Apollo Global Management, two giant Wall Street firms with close ties to Donald Trump and Jeffrey Epstein.

This LNG project is part of Trump’s “American Energy Dominance” agenda, aimed at cementing U.S. control of fossil fuel deposits around the globe.

Canada’s Energy Minister, former Goldman Sachs executive Tim Hodgson, told White House officials “we’re excited to help America achieve energy dominance”.

But Canadians want less U.S. control of our energy resources, not more. And we don’t want our tax dollars going to Trump’s inner circle on Wall Street.

That money should go to local projects that lower our bills, create long-term jobs and make us more secure in a hot and dangerous world. Ksi Lisims does the opposite.

Call your Member of Parliament and urge them to oppose public financing for American LNG.

A few tips:

– Introduce yourself with your name and where you live
– Share why you’re most concerned, then choose a few talking points
– If you don’t get through, it’s still worth leaving a voicemail
– Feel nervous? Try practicing once on your own before you call!

Points you can mention:

– The Ksi Lisims project is 100 per cent owned by Western LNG in Texas.
– The floating LNG terminal would be built at a shipyard overseas.
– Asian countries are trying to cut their dependence on imported LNG.
– Ksi Lisims has failed to secure buyers for most of the terminal capacity.
– This means the project can’t get normal financing for construction.
– Canadian taxpayers should not bail out this American LNG project.
– First Nations in B.C. have vowed to fight this project. We should join them.
